ALBANY – There was a time a few years ago when Gov. Andrew Cuomo didn’t have to listen to shots fired his way from the GOP.
Nowadays, the Republican Governors Association headed by Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker is regularly attacking Cuomo, who is looking to seek a third term in 2018 and one of many Democrats maneuvering for a possible White House run in 2020.
The RGA was out this week with an attack on Cuomo’s state-funded film studio near Syracuse, described in media accounts as “a flop” and “shiny, empty albratross.’’
Over the past four weeks or so, the RGA has offered its assessments of everything from the state’s looming $4 billion deficit to a “shocking” media report saying a new subway line in New York City was rushed into opening by Cuomo’s transit agency.
It was only in April that Cuomo and Walker penned a joint letter to President Trump asking for federal intervention in a dispute with Canada that the two governors say was hurting dairy farmers in their two states.
