Venison will make an appearance on the menus of local Arby's stores, but it's going to cost you a few bucks.
On Oct. 21, starting at 10 a.m., all Western New York Arby's will offer a venison sandwich, one day of the year.
Last year Arby's test-marketed the venison sandwich in hunting areas with about 100 a store, and they sold out in a few hours, said Michael Schiappa, who owns most of the area stores except for Galleria and Niagara Falls.
For $9.99, customers will get a 5.5-ounce venison steak and crispy onions topped with a juniper berry sauce on a toasted roll.
The special is pegged to hunting season – local bowhunters can start Oct. 1 – but the venison is farm-raised in New Zealand.
