The Rotary Club of Hamburg has begun collecting monetary donations to provide needy youths with new warm winter clothing as part of this year's Warm the Children initiative.
Schools, churches and human service agencies identify families in need of assistance from Hamburg, Angola, Blasdell, Brant, Derby, Eden, Evans, Lake View and North Collins. Those parents will shop at Sears in the McKinley Mall, accompanied by volunteers, who pay for clothing selected with purchase orders.
Last fall, 450 children from more than 140 families were helped.
Checks payable to Warm the Children Fund may be dropped off or mailed to Evans Bank, 5999 South Park Ave., Hamburg, NY 14075. Donations can be made online at: www.hamburgrotaryclub.org. Donations are tax deductible, and 100 percent of donations go toward clothing, according to coordinator Elizabeth Angelbeck.
