Two Canadian men were charged with trafficking minors following an investigation by the Niagara Regional Police Service into two underage girls involved in the sex trade who were being housed at a hotel in Niagara Falls, Ont.
Authorities received a tip about the girls on Saturday, the police service said Tuesday.
Jerdaine Foster, 24, and Shamaree Salmon, 23, both of Hamilton were arrested on the trafficking minors charge plus a charge of receiving a material benefit from trafficking.
The Special Investigative Services Morality Unit investigated and made the arrests.
They appeared at the Ontario Court of Justice in St. Catharines on Sunday.
In Canada, prostitution is legal, however, in this case the girls were underage. Also, it is illegal to profit from another person's work in the sex trade, as in pimping.
