Gift cards, musical equipment taken in pair of vehicle thefts in Buffalo

Thieves stole $1,450 in gift cards and $2,800 worth of musical equipment from vehicles parked in driveways in separate incidents late Sunday or Monday in Buffalo, police reported.

In the first case, the owner of a 2015 Toyota minivan said she had left a small purse inside the vehicle while it was parked on Carlyle Avenue, off Abbott Road in South Buffalo. The van was locked, but someone broke in between noon Sunday and 2 p.m. Monday and took the purse with 15 gift cards, including $300 cards to Kohl's and Outback.

In the second case, a man who lives on Highland Avenue, off Elmwood Avenue, told police that between 11:30 p.m. Sunday and 8:30 a.m. Monday someone got into his vehicle, without damaging it, and took his bass guitar, amplifier and sound equipment from the trunk. The registration and insurance card were taken, too.
