Christopher A. Penwright, who raped a woman while she was unconscious from drinking and using drugs at a party, was sentenced Monday by Niagara County Judge Matthew J. Murphy III to four years in state prison and 10 years of post-release supervision.
Penwright, 23, of Gardenwood Drive, Town of Lockport, didn't wait to be indicted by a grand jury before pleading guilty Aug. 21 to third-degree rape for the Oct. 15, 2016, assault at a party in his home.
"I am very remorseful for what has occurred," Penwright said.
He asked for probation so as not to lose contact with his infant son.
"Your only regret is that you were found guilty, not that you committed a crime," Murphy retorted as he imposed the maximum sentence.
