Richard "Dick" Heller aka "Coach" went to Heaven on Monday, October 9, 2017. He was born in Wisconsin to the late Howard & Bessie Heller. For the past 17 years, Dick had made Bristol, TN his home with his beloved wife, Lynn (Nowak) Heller and their two children, Erik Heller and Maria Heller. He is also survived by his first family Michael (Teri) Heller, Kathryn (Ron) Koza, Patricia (David) Elliott, Barbara Heller (Marc Volden), and Robert (Patty) Heller. Dick was blessed with 5 grandchildren, nieces and nephews. For 38 years, he was a professor and swim coach at Buffalo State College. He was inducted into their Athletic Hall of Fame along with the Lacrosse Wisconsin University's Athletic Wall of Fame. He was a local, national, and International Masters Swim Champion. Dick received the Volunteer Award for 45 years of service to the American Red Cross. He had swimmers and students all over the world that he loved. The family will receive friends from 5:30-7:30PM with a service to follow on Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at the Church of the Nativity United Church of Christ, 1530 Colvin Blvd., Buffalo, NY 14223. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of your choice. Dick is in the care of Restore Life USA in Elizabethton, TN for use in future medical research to cure cancer.
