Leaf pickup will begin Nov. 1 in Amherst, Highway Superintendent Patrick Lucey announced.
Until then, all leaves along with other growth material may be placed in open garbage cans or recyclable paper bags for pickup by the town's refuse contractor Modern Disposal, Lucey said.
Private landscapers are required to dispose of leaves at their own expense, he noted.
Lucey also reminded residents that leaves may not be raked into the roadway where they can plug stormwater receivers, cause flooding problems and block driving lanes of traffic.
Leaf pickup will continue systematically throughout the town until all leaves are picked up or snow prohibits crews from doing so, Lucey said.
