Buffalo police identify city's latest homicide victim

Buffalo police have identified the man fatally shot on the city's West Side late last month.

Police said 23-year-old Deion Brown, of Buffalo, was killed in a double shooting just after midnight Sept. 27 near Parkdale and Potomac avenues. He died at the scene.

A 32-year-old Buffalo woman also was critically wounded in the shooting. Police have not released the woman's name or an update on her condition.

No arrests have been made, police said.

Eight days before he was killed, authorities offered up to a $1,000 reward for information on Brown's whereabouts. He had failed to report to his parole officer, according to Crime Stoppers Buffalo.

"He has a history of violence and is to be considered armed and dangerous," authorities said when offering the reward.

Brown was on parole for robbery and attempted burglary convictions and had been released from Orleans Correctional Facility, according to the state Department of Corrections and Community Supervision.

He previously worked as an assistant manager at an area Tim Hortons, according to a GoFundMe page set up to raise money for funeral expenses.

Brown's death was the city's first homicide since Aug. 6, the longest gap between killings in the city this year.
