Letter: New York dairy farmers are proud of their work

New York dairy farmers are proud of their work

Thursday is National Farmers Day, and I’m honored to have a day to recognize my career choice – New York dairy farmer.

As the mother of two grown children, I take great pride in caring for the cows on our farm that produce milk for our communities. That same milk also nourishes my family, because I know the importance of keeping them fueled throughout the day, starting with breakfast.

Amidst the flurry of back-to-school and fall activities, it’s essential to take time for a healthy breakfast – to feed our kids’ minds and bodies. Eating breakfast helps them think, learn, pay attention and, ultimately, be more successful in school.

Dairy is our family’s breakfast staple – whether in a glass, poured over cereal or mixed with fruit in a smoothie. Milk, cheese, yogurt and other dairy foods are rich in nutrients and critical for your child’s growth and development.
