Former Amherst Town Board member Guy Marlette, who is running against Democrat Thomas Loughran for the 5th District County Legislature seat in Amherst, says Democratic County Executive Mark Poloncarz has done some good things overall.
But his social media habits are not one of them, said Marlette, who spoke to The Buffalo News Editorial Board.
Marlette, a registered Conservative who would caucus with the Republican-supported majority if elected, said Poloncarz's routine habit of posting to Twitter and opining on state and federal issues should take a back seat to local issues. He also said any position posted to social media should be less political, less reactive and more thoroughly researched.
"I personally don't use social media to promote a political agenda," he said.
