Sedita academy to be officially launched as community school

Frank A. Sedita Academy, at 21 Lowell Place, will be dedicated as the Buffalo Public Schools' next community school during a ceremonial ribbon-cutting at 10 a.m. Thursday.

The school district designated 13 schools throughout the city as "community schools" to provide students, families and the public with a variety of services, programs and recreation during after hours on weekdays and on Saturday mornings. This year, the district  upped the number of community schools to 15 with the addition of Sedita and North Park Academy on Parkside Avenue.

The district started Saturday morning programs at Sedita on Sept. 30.
