TUNING UP – Daniel Hart, executive director of the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra, is guest speaker at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday in the IMAGINE Buffalo lunchtime lecture series in the Central Library on Lafayette Square in downtown Buffalo.
The program begins at noon in the Ring of Knowledge on the library’s main floor with a Great Courses video on “Gothic Churches in the Holy Roman Empire.” Admission is free. You can bring a lunch or buy one at the library’s Fables Cafe nearby.

OFF AND RUNNING – The Eggertsville Community Organization will hold its annual Meet the Candidates Night at 7 p.m. Tuesday in St. Paul’s Church Parish Hall, 4007 Main St., Eggertsville. Tiles made by students at the former Eggert Road Elementary School also will be on display. All are welcome.

DEADLINE – Tuesday is the last day to register for a free family workshop, “Understanding Sensory Processing Needs in Young Children,” at 4 p.m. Oct. 17 in the Trott Access Center, 1001 11th St., Niagara Falls. TEACHERS MEET – The Eastern Erie Retired Teachers Association will hold a luncheon and meeting Wednesday in Alton’s the Columns Restaurant, 2221 Transit Road, Elma. Registration is at 11:15 a.m., followed by a business meeting and lunch at 12:15 p.m. President Judy Farmer will lead a panel discussion on the proposed state Constitutional Convention at 1:15 p.m. Books also will be collected to donate to a needy primary school.

STARTING UP – The first meeting of Cancer Companions, a Christian support group for those undergoing or completing treatment for cancer and their loved ones, will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Salem Lutheran Church, 10 McClellan Circle at Whitfield Avenue and McKinley Parkway.
