ROEDER, Jean (Woodward)

ROEDER - Jean (nee Woodward)
Died peacefully on October 4, 2017 in Sarasota, FL at the age of 70. Jean is survived by her husband, G. Phillip Roeder along with sisters, Mary Woodward, Kathryn (Martin) Heavey, Suzanne (Joseph) Szustakowski, Ann (John) Canty all of Buffalo, NY and brother, Tom (Rosemarie) Woodward of Tampa, FL. Jean loved and cherished her many nieces and nephews (all 18 of them) and grand-nieces and nephews (29, soon to be 30). She was preceded in death by her parents, Daniel and Margaret Woodward of Buffalo, NY and her brother, Daniel Woodward also of Buffalo, NY. Jean was born on January 22, 1947 in Buffalo to Daniel and Margaret. She graduated from D'Youville College in 1969 with a degree in education and obtained a Master's in Special Education from Canisius College. She married G. Phillip Roeder, a school psychologist, in 1974. Jean taught kindergarten at St. Mary's School for the Deaf for many years, eventually becoming the parent advisor. She eventually retired and moved to Sarasota, FL along with Phil. A funeral is scheduled for 9:30 AM on October 13, 2017 at St. Thomas Moore Catholic Church, 2506 Gulf Gate Drive, Sarasota, FL 34231, with a reception to follow at the church. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Jean's life. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to your favorite charity. Condolences can be sent to 3960 Wilshire Court, Sarasota, FL 34238. The family would like to thank Amy Thompson, Debbie Yancheski and Susan Talkoyic for their help to Jean over the past several years.
