A Dunkirk couple was arrested on drug charges Friday following a police raid on their Deer Street residence, authorities said.
Dunkirk police executed the warrant in the apartment occupied by Ontario R. Eldridge, 31, and Katelyn M. Smith, 27, based on an investigation by the Southern Tier Regional Drug Task Force that crack cocaine was being sold from that address.
At the time of the raid, authorities had an arrest warrant for Eldridge, charging him with criminal possession of a controlled substance and criminal sale of a controlled substance.
Once inside the apartment, police found a marijuana growing operation, packaging materials associated with the sale and distribution of crack cocaine, and a stolen handgun. Eldridge was additionally charged with criminal possession of a weapon, criminal possession of stolen property and unlawfully growing marijuana.
Smith was charged withunlawfully growing marijuana, criminal possession of a weapon and criminal possession of stolen property. Eldridge and Smith were both arraigned in City Court and then remanded to the Chautauqua County Jail pending further action of the court.
