Lauricella stepping down as head of Park School

Christopher J. Lauricella announced this week he will step down in July as head of the Park School in Amherst to lead the Albany Academies in Albany.

During Lauricella's 10-year tenure at Park, enrollment increased from 236 students in prekindergarten through high school to 303 today, school officials said.

Also, $1.3 million was raised to retire the school’s debt in 2012 and nearly $5 million was raised to support Science@Park. Construction on the Knopp-Hailpern Science Building on the school's Harlem Road campus will begin in November.

Jeremy Besch, assistant head of school, will replace Lauricella on an interim basis while a permanent replacement is selected, said Martin J. Berardi, president of the board of trustees.
