Last time out: The Purple Eagles opened their season last Saturday at Colgate with a 5-1 loss.

Senior Derian Plouffe tied the game with a power play goal in the second period, 1-1, but the Raiders pulled away after that with the next four. Plouffe’s goal came in his first game back in the lineup after suffering a season-ending injury last November. The center was named this week’s Travel Team USA Player of the Week by Atlantic Hockey.

Freshman goaltender Brian Wilson made 28 saves in the loss.

History: Niagara and Robert Morris have a longstanding history dating back to the days of College Hockey America. The schools have played 61 times, with the Purple Eagles holding a 29-22-10 edge in the all-time series. The Colonials will visit Dwyer Arena again on Jan. 9.

For the foes: Robert Morris went 22-12-4 overall last season and 15-10-3 in Atlantic Hockey, losing to Air Force in the championship game of the AHC Tournament. The Colonials received 39 votes in the USCHO.com Preseason Poll.

Senior Brady Ferguson is the leading returning scorer in the NCAA after totaling 118 points in his first three years. Sophomore Michael Coyne of Buffalo didn’t record any points in 14 games as a freshman. He played two seasons with the Junior Sabres.
