The City of Tonawanda Common Council has approved parking, stopping and standing restrictions during school hours on Fletcher Street, near the high school/middle school, and prohibited parking on Roosevelt Street near the library.
"The main entrance to the school was becoming dangerous, especially during morning drop-offs," said Fourth Ward Councilman Tim Toth.
Superintendent Timothy Oldenburg said that the school has had concerns about parents dropping their kids off on Fletcher Street.
"We have signs on the grass - no stopping here, but it still happens anyways," said Oldenburg.
Mayor Rick Davis said there have been several near accidents and bottlenecks in these areas where kids are crossing the street.
"It was just an accident waiting to happen," said Davis.
Signs will go up immediately, he said.
