Lancaster remains ranked second in state; Will North breaks into Class AA poll

Unbeaten Lancaster remains the second-ranked team in Class AA in the New York State Sportswriters poll this week.

Canisius (4-1) came in sixth for the second straight week, while Williamsville North (5-0) broke into the rankings at No. 23 following last week's win over state-ranked Jamestown (4-1). Jamestown dropped from 18th to No. 29.

In Class A, unbeaten West Seneca West is seventh. South Park (5-0) is 12th, Grand Island (4-1) 19th and Starpoint (4-1) fell to No. 22 after last week's loss to Grand Island.

In Class B, unbeaten Maryvale is ninth, followed by Cheektowaga (4-1) at No. 13, Dunkirk (5-0) at No.14, Albion (5-0) at No. 23 and Lackawanna (4-1) tied for 25th after losing for the first time last week at Class A school West Seneca West.

In Class C, Cleveland Hill (4-1) is the only area team in the rankings, coming in at No. 6.

Class D finds Franklinville/Ellicottville (5-0) at No. 8, Maple Grove (4-1) 10th and Clymer/Sherman/Panama (4-1) at No. 20.
