Green Acres Animal Hospital presented a plan to triple its size at its site at 2060 Niagara Falls Blvd., and centralize its office staff from four other locations at the expanded Tonawanda site.
The hospital, which was built in 2004, is currently 4,500 square feet. The preliminary drawing presented to the Town of Tonawanda Planning Board for its approval shows a two-story, 12,136-square-foot addition.
Green Acres has three practices in Erie County and two in Niagara County and plans to centralize its administrative offices at the Tonawanda site and grow its emergency clinic, said Louise Saviola-Corbett, the hospital administrator. She said the hospital also offers boarding for animals treated at the hospital.
She noted the growth as people who bring their animals to the hospital for emergency care often bring them back for routine care as well.
