WNY Driver of the week: Bob Weber

Driver: Bob Weber

Age: 56.

Hometown: Clarence Center.

Division: Late Models/Lancaster Speedway.

Lowdown: Weber is a seasoned veteran of local asphalt stock car competition who launched his career in the mid-1970s in the old Figure-8 class at Lancaster. When the Figure-8 class was ended, Weber transitioned to the former Backwards division where he won two championships before moving on to the Street Stocks/Super Stocks in 1985 which was renamed Late Models a few seasons later. Weber is also a five-time Late Model victor of Lancaster's most prestigious annual stock car event, the U.S. Open. He is grateful for the support he has received from family including wife Barb and children Heather (age 27), Bobby III (25), Lauren (23) and Jacob (21). Crew members have included Bill Eschborn, Ray Valentine, Jeff Coffta, Ray Somers and Glenn Waldron. In addition to Late Models, Weber has also been racing in Lancaster's Sportsman class the last few seasons.

Accomplishments: Weber has won five Lancaster season point titles including Late Models, 1995, 2006, 2007 and the now defunct Backwards class, 1983 and 1984. His five Late Model U.S. Open triumphs were accomplished in 1995, 1998, 2002, 2009 and 2010. He took the Late Model checkered flag in the ROC Weekend at Oswego Speedway in 2010 and 2012.

Favorite Food: Steak.

Favorite Music: Country and Classic Rock, especially Bob Seger.

Hobbies: Hunting and Snowmobiling.
