Amy Moritz's Stick Taps: Five NHL players to follow on social media

Ah, social media. Some days you just want to stay away. But here are five NHL players to put into your feed to brighten your day with laughter both on and off the ice.

1. Robert Luongo

If an NHL player set the standard for Twitter, it is Florida Panthers goalie Roberto Luongo. Tweeting from the handle @strombone1 Luongo is funny and self-deprecating in a sport that sometimes has players taking themselves way too seriously.

2. P.K. Subban

The Nashville Predators defenseman is active on both Twitter (@PKSubban1) and Instagram (@subbnator) but it's the Instagram account which provides some of the best videos of one of the biggest personalities currently in the NHL.

3. Evander Kane

When it comes to the Buffalo Sabres, Kane is by far the most active on social media, loving pretty much all platforms. On Twitter (@evanderkane_9) he talks hockey and boxing (a lot of boxing) while on Instagram (@evander9kane) he doesn't shy away from showing fans his life away from the rink (often while shirtless).

Waking up 26 feels good. Thanks for the Birthday wishes from everyone today. #EK9

4. Zach Bogosian

If social media is bumming you out, turn to Bogosina's Instagram (@zbogosian47) where you are just as likely to find shots of his 1-year-old daughter and family as you are hockey. And who doesn't like cute kid photos on tough days?

5. Brett Burns

His Twitter feed (@Burnzie88) currently filled with posts to help with fundraising for Hurricane Harvey with the San Jose Sharks foundation. But he also just has a lot of fun.
