Thirteen people were in need of help Saturday after a morning fire in an apartment building at 4091 Richcrest Drive in Hamburg.
A spokesman for the American Red Cross of Western New York said volunteers provided emergency assistance to 11 adults and two children who were displaced by the fire. Jay Bonafede, regional communications officer for the Red Cross, said the volunteers were prepared to help with temporary housing, food, clothing, health services and medicine replacement.
Bonefede said the Red Cross will meet with the families again to address more long-term needs.
Firefighters from Hamburg, Orchard Park, Big Tree and Scranton departments responded to the blaze, and no injuries were reported. No further information was available about the fire or its possible cause.
