Following is a weekly listing of upcoming public events for those interested in health, fitness, nutrition and family support.

Squash Out Cancer. First squash event in Buffalo to benefit the American Cancer Society, 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Nardin Academy Athletic Center, 1803 Elmwood Ave. $10 registration fee for players of all abilities, including those who want to learn the game; $5 voluntary donations for parents and others who want to watch. “Fur”ever in My Heart pet remembrance service. 2 p.m. Oct. 15, Mount Olivet Cemetery, 4000 Elmwood Ave., Kenmore. The service will feature Keith Kelly performing songs that will inspire and uplift as attendees remember animals they have loved. Reservations received by Wednesday by calling 873-6500 will have their pet’s names included in the program book. Presented as part of the bereavement support programs of Catholic Diocese Cemeteries.

Family Fun Community Day. 9 a.m. to noon,  next Saturday, South Park High School, 150 Southside High School. Includes information resource tables, arts and crafts, indoor and outdoor sports and fitness activities for all ages, including swimming lessons. “Healthy Cooking on a Budget” workshop presented by Chef Bobby Anderson from “Hell’s Kitchen” and executive director of F-Bites.
