No. 1 ticket Buffalo police issued at checkpoints: Uninspected vehicle

The most common ticket issued by Buffalo police at traffic checkpoints conducted in August and September was for having an uninspected vehicle.

Of the 1,877 summonses issued at checkpoints held through the city between Aug. 4 and Sept. 20, 381 were for uninspected vehicles, followed by 337 for illegally tinted windows and 278 for unregistered vehicles.

Those are some of the findings from a Buffalo News analysis of 121 checkpoints conducted between Aug. 4 and Sept. 20. The release of information Wednesday on the checkpoints marked the first time the Buffalo Police Department collected and provided to the public breakdowns from checkpoints.
