Garden writer and Buffalo News contributor Sally Cunningham will tell people why native plants are critical to the health of the local environment during a talk next Wednesday at the Niagara Falls Public Library.
The 7 p.m. free event is being sponsored by the Western New York Land Conservancy.
The land conservancy is currently coordinating a multi-year native "Restore the Gorge" planting and wildlife improvement project in the Niagara Gorge.
“I still think native plants carry a stigma,” Cunningham said. “People think they’ll be messy."
Cunningham said that's not true and she'll explain why at next week's event.
"Nature needs our help," Cunningham said. "I’ll show you some beauties and how to put them together in your yard."
