Get yourself ready for today's #PrepTalkLive action with everything you need to know about the day ahead in high school sports.

What to watch for Friday

1. Football - Friday Night Lights

Of the 23 local games tonight, here are three to keep an eye on:

  • Class B-2: Olean at Albion, 7 p.m.
  • Class B-1: Cheektowaga vs. Burgard, 7 p.m. at Riverside
  • Nonleague Dunkirk at Southwestern, 7 p.m.

Albion (4-0, 3-0) looks to stay unbeaten when it hosts Olean (2-2, 1-1). The Purple Eagles have wins over Springville, Depew, Fredonia/WB and Roy-Hart/Barker. The Huskies opened with wins over Allegany-Limestone and Fredonia, but lost the last two to Maryvale and Dunkirk.

Cheektowaga (3-1, 2-0) has a tough league game ahead of it against Burgard (2-2, 2-1). The Warriors are led by junior QB Keshone Beal. The Bulldogs opened with a loss to Medina, won their next two against East Aurora/Holland and Lew-Port, and were shut out last week at Maryvale.

Reigning Class B champ Dunkirk (4-0) visits Southwestern (3-1) in an intriguing nonleague matchup. The Marauders have handily won their last three after opening with a 21-19 win at Depew. The Trojans lost to Cleveland Hill, 12-0, in a rematch of last year's Class C final.

The Panthers feature the section's leading scorer in Meghan Root, who has 27 goals and eight assists for 62 points. Ashley Bliss also has 15 goals and 10 assists for 40 points. Pioneer's tie came against East Aurora.

The Gators have seven shutouts in their nine wins. Alyssa Spring has 14 goals, while Molly McClelland and Hallie Domes each have nine goals.

The Red Devils are coming off of a huge five-set home win over No. 1 Williamsville East on Wednesday. Jaide Cummings had 12 kills and three aces, while Kennedy Oleszak recorded 11 kills and 10 blocks.

The Falcons lost to Clarence back on Sept. 11 in four sets. Cami Duggan, Kennedy Izzo and Shelby Simmeth are three of the top players for Frontier.
