Teen charged in connection with Attica cemetery vandalism

A teenager faces three charges in connection with a case of vandalism at St. Vincent Cemetery on Exchange Road in the Town of Attica, according to the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office Thursday.

Following a report by caretakers, who found two broken-out windows at the rear of the cemetery’s maintenance building, sheriff’s investigators arrested a 17-year-old boy, the Sheriff's Office said. His name was not released by authorities.

A locked, fenced area behind the building had been entered and a stick was used to break the windows, the Sheriff's Office said. A 10-year-old child was present at the time, authorities said.

The 17-year-old was charged with fourth-degree criminal mischief, third-degree criminal trespass and endangering the welfare of a child, according to the Sheriff's Office.

He was ordered to appear at a later date in Attica Town Court.
