Two men charged with stealing safe from Hertel Avenue corner store

Two men have been charged with breaking into a Hertel Avenue deli on Tuesday morning and stealing the store's safe, according to a Buffalo police report.

A witness called police after seeing two men break into Caruso's Deli and Grocery, 1212 Hertel, at about 4:15 a.m. Tuesday, according to the report.

Police arrested Michael A. Doblinger, 53, of Buffalo, and Andrey Lukyahchuk, 36, of Grand Island, who officers found with the safe in a 2008 Toyota Prius behind the deli, the report said.

Both Doblinger and Lukyahchuk were charged with third-degree burglary, fourth-degree grand larceny, third-degree criminal mischief, fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property and possession of burglar tools, police said.
