Woman charged after 2 dogs found starved to death in Niagara Falls

A Niagara Falls woman faces two felony animal cruelty charges after police found two dead dogs in a vacant house.

The dogs – hound mixes named Chevy and Onyx – were found Sept. 13 inside 547 20th St. locked in metal crates on the second floor where they apparently starved to death, according to a city police report.

Camillya L. Joseph, 28, of Walnut Avenue, turned herself in last week.

Police found the dogs while investigating the report of a person entering the building, according to a police report. Officers called the property owner who allegedly told police the dogs were his daughter's, according to the report.

One of the dogs was wearing an electronic bark-control collar. The homeowner told police he abandoned the home due to back taxes owed. Police found unsafe conditions inside, including mold and weak floors, the police report said.
