Sabres send 10 players to Amerks, including Porter, Moses, Nelson

The Sabres' avalanche of assignments is underway.

Following Saturday's workouts, Buffalo assigned 10 players to the Rochester Americans. Headed to the minors are forwards Kevin Porter, Stevie Moses, Eric Cornel and Vaclav Karabacek; defensemen Casey Nelson, Brycen Martin and Devante Stephens; and goaltenders Jason Kasdorf, Jonas Johansson and Adam Wilcox.

Porter is subject to waivers.

The Amerks will report for training-camp physicals and testing Sunday. They'll hold their first on-ice session Monday. Buffalo was expected to trim its camp roster to fill the Amerks' lineup.

Earlier on Saturday, the Sabres sent Cliff Pu back to his junior team.

The Sabres have 36 players left on their camp roster: 21 forwards, 12 defensemen and three goaltenders. They need to be at 23 players Oct. 5.

The remaining players are:

Forwards - Justin Bailey, Nick Baptiste, Kyle Criscuolo, Nicolas Deslauriers, Jack Eichel, Hudson Fasching, Zemgus Girgensons, Seth Griffith, Jacob Josefson, Evander Kane, Johan Larsson, Sean Malone, Matt Moulson, Alex Nylander, Ryan O'Reilly, Kyle Okposo, Jason Pominville, Benoit Pouliot, Sam Reinhart, Evan Rodrigues, C.J. Smith.

Defensemen - Victor Antipin, Nathan Beaulieu, Zach Bogosian, Justin Falk, Taylor Fedun, Cody Goloubef, Josh Gorges, Brendan Guhle, Jake McCabe, Rasmus Ristolainen, Marco Scandella, Matt Tennyson.

Goalies: Chad Johnson, Robin Lehner, Linus Ullmark.
