Jamestown man sentenced for child porn

A Jamestown man was sentenced Friday to 10 years in prison and 10 years supervised release following his conviction on charges of distributing child pornography

According to the U.S. Attorney's office, Christopher Whitford, 46, on May 1, 2016, used a peer-to-peer file sharing program in which he shared files with an undercover law enforcement officer. On June 23, 2016, a federal search warrant was executed at Whitford's West 13th Street home, during which several items of electronic media were seized.

A forensic analysis revealed images and videos constituting child pornography were stored on those items.  Included among the images and videos were those Whitford had previously shared with the undercover officer. According to authorities, Whitford had amassed about 2,405 images and 1,188 videos they said constituted child pornography.

U.S. District Judge Elizabeth A. Wolford sentenced Whitford. The FBI investigated the case.
