Buffalo donation drive for Hurricane Maria victims begins

Here's how Buffalo area residents can help Hurricane Maria victims in Puerto Rico through Oct. 6:

Special donation boxes will be set up at drop-off sites in Buffalo City Hall, 35 Erie County buildings, the Belle Center at 104 Maryland St. and at St. Anthony's Church, which is located at 306 Ingham Ave., Lackawanna.

Needed supplies include bottled water, flashlights, D batteries, canned goods, old-style can opener, candles and baby supplies.

Monetary donations also are will be accepted through M&T Bank's Puerto Rico Hurricane Maria Relief Fund.

Mayor Byron W. Brown and WNY Latino Leaders announced the campaign Friday at City Hall, joined by County Executive Mark Poloncarz, State Senators Tim Kennedy and Chris Jacobs and Assemblymen Sean Ryan and Mickey Kearns.
