Ex-White House Chief of Staff Andrew Card to talk at Amherst GOP dinner

A former White House chief of staff will be the keynote speaker at the Amherst Republicans' annual dinner next week.

Andrew Card, who served as President George W. Bush's chief of staff and was the person who informed the president, while Bush was talking with a second-grade class, that a second plane had hit the World Trade Center on Sept. 11, 2001, is the featured guest at the event Thursday night at Sean Patrick's restaurant, 3480 Millersport Highway.

Card, who served under Bush from the start of his administration in 2001 through April 2006, was the 21st White House chief of staff and also served as secretary of transportation under President George H.W. Bush.

Tickets for the dinner are $99 per person, $185 per couple and $900 per table of 10. A ticket for the VIP reception is $250. Checks should be made payable to Elect Amherst Republicans and sent to P.O. Box 289, East Amherst, N.Y. 14051.
