Marcell Dareus didn't practice Wednesday due to an ankle injury and could miss Sunday's game against Denver, coach Sean McDermott said.
Dareus wore a hefty ankle brace as trainers put him though seated exercises on the sideline during the portion of practice that was open to media.
"I am concerned," McDermott said. "It's day to day at this point and we've got to make sure that we have a contingency plan in place."
Dareus' injury is part of the reason the team re-signed defensive tackle Deandre Coleman Wednesday, as well as safety Robert Blanton.

Money quote: “I guess he gets blamed for everything,” LeSean McCoy said of Tyrod Taylor, when asked about some calls for rookie Nathan Peterman to start at quarterback. “But I don’t think (he should be benched). Tyrod’s a hell of a player, man. He makes plays. Without him, we wouldn’t have had no shot last week."
Bills-Broncos scouting report: Jay Skurski analyzes how each unit will stack up in Sunday's game.
What if Tyrod had picked Denver? The Broncos were interested in Tyrod Taylor after his rookie contract expired, and reportedly offered him more money than the Bills. What would it look like if Taylor made a different decision? That and more in our roundup of national stories about the Bills.
Police are investigating a shooting at a Bills player's house: A man was shot at the California home of Bills cornerback Shareece Wright, Jay Skurski reported.
“We’re still trying to figure out why it happened,” Wright said. His mother and siblings live in the house.
Trouble on the horizon: Former Bills receiver Sammy Watkins is apparently of the belief that Planet Earth is flat. He's wrong. Sorry we didn't know about this when he was in Buffalo.
Hear from Kyle: Kyle Williams, the Bills' longest-tenure player, joined "The Tim Graham Show" Wednesday. Take a listen.
Power rankings roundup: The Bills moved ... up(?) after losing to Carolina.
McCoy on incentives: The Bills added $2.5 million in incentives to McCoy's contract before the season. McCoy joked Wednesday that the reason was simple: "I just wanted the loot, baby!" But it of course went deeper than that, Jerry Sullivan wrote.
McDermott defends WR corps: McDermott said Wednesday that he thinks his team has enough speed at wide receiver – they just need to win more battles.
