2 firefighters injured battling barn fire that caused $350k in damage

Two firefighters were injured Wednesday afternoon battling a barn fire that caused an estimated $350,000 in damage in Wyoming County, authorities said.

Silver Springs firefighters were called about 12:11 p.m. to Broughton Farms in the Town of Gainesville and remained at the scene for eight hours, fire officials said in a news release.

One firefighter suffered a broken wrist while another suffered from exhaustion, officials said. Both firefighters were treated and released from Wyoming County Community Hospital.

The cause of the blaze remains under investigation.

Other responding fire companies included, Castile, Perry, Gainesville, Perry Center, Pike, Bliss, North Java, Warsaw, Nunda, Cuylerville and Pavilion. Wyoming County Emergency Services, Wyoming Correctional and Monroe Ambulance also assisted at the scene.
