Sept. 21 – The Lake Erie Chapter of Fly Fishers International will hold its monthly meeting at the American Legion Post No. 735 on Legion Drive (off Union Road), West Seneca. Fly tying begins at 6 p.m. and the meeting begins at 7 p.m. A slide presentation will be given by Alberto Rey of Fredonia on steelheading in steelhead alley. Open to the public. Sept. 23 – National Hunting and Fishing Day celebration at the Elma Conservation Club, 600 Creek Road, Elma, sponsored by the Erie County Federation of Sportsmen’s Clubs. Free to attend. Hours are 10 a.m.-4 p.m.

Sept. 24 – Lakewood Rod & Gun Club 23rd Annual Gun Raffle, 433 Terrace Ave., Lakewood starting at 1 p.m. Open to the public. A total of 35 guns with money raised going to the club’s lifetime license program for kids. Tickets can be purchased at the door for $10.

Sept. 26 – WNY Chapter of Trout Unlimited with have its monthly meeting at the Donovan American Legion Post located at 3210 Genesee St., Cheektowaga. Fly tying begins at 6 p.m. and the general meeting begins at 7:30 p.m. Guest speaker is Jim Markham with DEC’s Lake Erie Unit. He will be discussing the state of Lake Erie steelhead in the tributaries and share information on an experiment involving steelhead.

Oct. 3 – NY State Pistol Permit Safety Class at Calvary Baptist Church, 3515 Galloway Road, Batavia hosted by the Genesee County Chapter of SCOPE starting at 6 p.m. Preregister with Jim Carr at 778-9431.

Oct. 3 – Public meeting on trout stream management to provide an overview of the state’s approach. The meeting is from 6:30-9 p.m. at Reinstein Woods Environmental Education Center, 93 Honorine Drive, Depew.

Oct 4 – Opening day for the Tonawandas Sportsmen’s Club (5657 Killian Road, Pendleton) 24-round winter trap and skeet league. Cost is $5 per round for league rounds plus a $3 per round league fee. New shooters can register at TonSportsClub.com and request placement on one of the 10-shooter teams.
