70-year-old pedestrian hurt when hit by pickup in Niagara Falls

A 70-year-old woman struck by a pickup truck in Niagara Falls on Tuesday afternoon suffered a broken arm and leg injuries, police said in a news release.

The woman, whose name was not released by police, was hit at about 3:45 p.m. on the 1900 block of Forest Avenue, according to Niagara Falls police.

She was crossing Forest in the middle of the block when she was hit by a 54-year-old Niagara Falls man driving a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado, police said. He was making a left turn from 19th Street onto Forest, police said. The driver, whose name also was not released by police, remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation.

The woman was taken by ambulance to Erie County Medical Center. Police said they did not know her condition.

Police are continuing to investigate.
