Northtowns Cardiology has won final approval from the Amherst Planning Board for its plan, opposed by some neighbors, to build a medical office building on Maple Road.
The Planning Board on Thursday approved the project site plan and found the one-story, 11,000-square-foot building and related development, at 190 Maple Road, would not harm the environment.
The 2.35-acre property is zoned residential, a fact that generated some of the criticism of the project. The Town Board turned down Northtowns' request for a rezoning of the property, but the practice obtained a use variance from the town Zoning Board of Appeals. The project will cost about $2.5 million, including the purchase price.
Site work should begin this fall. The practice plans to move from 5530 Sheridan Drive and from 400 International Drive, where it has back-office operations, to 190 Maple by September 2018.
