Dayton woman charged with DWI after hitting tree, utility pole

A 30-year-old Dayton woman was drunk and speeding when she lost control of her vehicle, flew off the road and crashed into a tree and a utility pole early Sunday in the Town of Villenova, according to the Chautauqua County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies responded around 12:45 a.m. to a report of a motor-vehicle crash with injuries on Flucker Hill Road. The driver, Ashley L. Knopf, was taken to an unidentified local hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. The Sheriff's Office said its investigation determined Knopf was intoxicated at the time of the crash.

She is charged with driving while intoxicated and driving at an unreasonable speed. She will appear in Villenova Town Court at a later date.
