Amerks sign forward previously charged with 'revenge porn'

The Rochester Americans have been busy adding veteran players. The latest has a checkered history.

The Amerks have signed Garret Ross, a forward who was charged with a felony for "revenge porn" in 2016. The charges were dropped by Illinois prosecutors after it was discovered Ross was in Michigan when he texted an illicit video without the woman's consent. Michigan did not have a similar law with which Ross could be charged.

A fifth-round pick by Chicago in 2012, the Blackhawks suspended Ross when he was charged. They reinstated him when the charge was dropped and he continued playing for their American Hockey League affiliate in Rockford.

Ross spent last season in Tucson, the Arizona Coyotes' AHL affiliate. He had one goal, four points and a minus-15 rating in 27 games. The 25-year-old totaled 43 goals and 97 points in 210 games with Rockford.
