GLAD YOU’RE HERE – The International Institute of Buffalo, 864 Delaware Ave., kicks off Welcoming Week, the annual nationwide celebration recognizing the contributions of immigrants and refugees, on Friday evening with the Neighbors Light the Way program. To show support for newcomers, everyone in Western New York is invited to keep their porch lights on until at least 10 p.m.
Next Wednesday at 6 p.m., the Institute will host “Refugees in Buffalo,” a free 90-minute program that will discuss why immigrants come to this area and what the community can do to support them. Donations of flashlights and batteries will be appreciated. Reservations are needed by Monday. Call 883-1900, ext. 375. For more info, visit iibuffalo.org.

GRAB A PLATE – New Hope United Methodist Church, 2846 Seneca St., West Seneca, will offer a free community dinner from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday. The menu includes sloppy joes, chef salad, beverages and homemade dessert. Freewill donations are welcome. For more info, call 825-8745.

WINNERS WANTED – More than two dozen prizes with a retail value of more than $10,000 will be given away as St. Teresa’s Church, 1974 Seneca St., holds its seventh annual appliance and electronics raffle Saturday evening in the Parish Center. Meanwhile, the Western New York Miniature Enthusiasts will hold their 36th annual Show and Sale of Dollhouse Miniatures from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday in the Grange Building at the Erie County Fairgrounds in Hamburg.
