An organization that does good work in its community can win up to $10,000 through M&T Bank's first "Understanding What's Important Business Challenge."
Businesses in New York State, along with seven other states and the District of Columbia, are eligible to nominate an organization anywhere in the United States "which strives to make a difference in their community by doing good works," according to the contest rules.
Nominations will be accepted through Sept. 29. As part of the entry, a business must describe the good works the business itself performs, and how it is connected to the organization it nominates.
M&T will announce five finalists on Nov. 2. The public can then vote until Nov. 22 to help choose the grand prize winner, which will be announced Nov. 28 and receive $10,000. The other four finalists will each receive $1,000.
