A man robbed an M&T Bank branch at 130 Grant St. Wednesday afternoon, according to a Buffalo police report.
The thief entered the bank at about 2:30 p.m. and handed a teller a note demanding money, according to the report.
The robber was described as a thin black man, 5-foot-9 with bushy hair and wearing yellow or gold glasses, a black baseball cap with a Jordan logo and a black coat.
Less than two hours earlier, a man tried to rob the KeyBank branch at 529 Elmwood Ave., according to a separate police report.
In that incident, the man entered the bank at about 12:50 p.m. and slid a piece of paper to a teller, telling him to read it. The assailant then grabbed the paper back and walked out of the bank, running north on Elmwood, according to the report. The report did not include a description of the would-be robber.
The two incidents do not appear to be connected, Buffalo Police Lt. Jeffrey Rinaldo said in an email.
