Letter: Legislators have the ability to change the Constitution

Legislators have the ability to change the Constitution

I read with amusement the letter advising New York state voters to vote in favor of a constitutional convention. One should understand who will be writing this new constitution. It will be those currently serving in the Legislature and/or their politically connected cronies.

Now let’s think about this. Do we really want these ethically challenged people writing a new constitution that would codify their current unethical behavior? I would think not.

Why waste time and taxpayer money on a constitutional convention when anything that needs to be changed could be done legislatively if only legislators had the political will to do so.
