Case of viral meningitis detected in Lockport School District

The Lockport School District has alerted parents and students on its website that an individual in the district has been diagnosed with viral meningitis.

The statement appears on the district's web page specifically dedicated to announcements for Lockport High School West.

The statement from the Lockport schools specified that the form of meningitis that was contracted by the individual, who was not identified, is not contagious and that it should not pose any risks to other students or staff.

But if an individual feels ill, they are encouraged to contact their physician, the statement from the school district read.
