Williamsville's South Long Park untouched in latest land swap proposal

Williamsville's South Long Park would remain as-is under the terms of a downsized land swap proposal between the village and a housing developer.

Village trustees had been considering swapping 1.8 acres of parkland with Natale Development so two parks could be connected. But cost estimates last month came back too high.

The tentative deal now calls for the village to give Natale a portion of its Department of Public Works side yard in return for the Section House, a historic railroad-era property.

The Section House would then be licensed to the Western New York Railway Historical Society, which operates the nearby Williamsville Lehigh Valley Depot. The deal would also create a connection between the park and a walking trail.

If trustees approved the land swap the project would go to the Planning Board for site plan approval.
