STITCH IN TIME – The Buffalo Chapter of the Embroiderers Guild of America will hold its first meeting of the 2017-18 season in two sessions, at 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. Wednesday in North Presbyterian Church, 300 N. JOY OF SINGING – The ABC Bel Canto Choirs, which include young singers from more than 30 public, private and parochial schools, will hold open house sessions Thursday and again Sept. 21 and Sept. 28 in Christ United Methodist Church, 350 Harlem Road, Amherst.
Students in grades 3 to 6 should come at 4:30 p.m., those from grades 6 to 12 should arrive by 6 p.m., and high school students and boys with changed or changing voices should come at 7:30 p.m. For more info, visit abcbelcanto.org.

JUST FOR TEACHERS – Laura Wright of Amherst, who assembles dozens of theme baskets every year for fundraisers and charities, reports: “I have made up a near $100 theme basket of school supplies that I would like to offer up as a free raffle for some one lucky teacher in the Buffalo and surrounding area.
“Every year I make baskets for kids that are given away by block party and community center giveaways. This year I wanted to honor the teachers who have to buy their own supplies for their classrooms.”

IN THE SPOTLIGHT – Donna Jordan Dusel, a photographer and instructor with works in many public and private collections, is the featured artist when the East Aurora Art Society meets at 7 p.m. Thursday in the Aurora Senior Center, 101 King St., East Aurora. All are welcome.
The society’s artists also will display their paintings and sculptures from 4 to 9 p.m. Friday in the Chapel on the Roycroft Campus, 21 S. Grove St., as part of the East Aurora Fall Art Walk.
