City of Tonawanda residents will join local and international celebrations of World Peace Day at 7 p.m. Sept. 21 in Clinton Park, at Clinton and Broad streets.
The Rally for Unity and Peace is a nondenominational and nonpolitical event sponsored by residents Beth Rosokoff and Jenna Koch with speakers, song and candlelight, envisioned as a unifying event to "bring us together in harmony."
Koch, who is also the Common Council president, said this is the first time the event has been held in the city.
The International Day of Peace was established by the United Nations in 1981. The theme for this year is "Together for Peace: Respect, Safety and Dignity for All."
