Man who drove stolen golf cart from Niagara Falls to Lockport sentenced to 5 years in prison

Drugs "ruined my life," said Tyler W. Craig, who was sentenced Tuesday to five years in prison for stealing a golf cart from the Hyde Park Golf Course in Niagara Falls. He drove it to Lockport.

After his release, Craig, 31, of Porter Road, Town of Niagara, will owe the City of Niagara Falls $2,500 in restitution for the vehicle he damaged Sept. 5, 2016. He and another man "got tired of walking," Craig told police after his arrest.

Craig also pleaded guilty to a 2016 burglary in Newfane and owes $835 in restitution to the homeowner.

Assistant District Attorney Joel M. Grundy said Craig also owes $1,407 to the Niagara County Sheriff's Office for damaging a patrol car by ramming his head into the fender after a court appearance.
